Rockford sits on the Crow River on the Highway 55 corridor, and like Hanover it straddles a county line. The Rockford Area district reaches well beyond the city, which means plenty of rural addresses out in the townships are Rockford schools even though the mailing address says something else. If schools are driving your search, that widens the map considerably and it is worth knowing, because rural acreage in the district is often cheaper per acre than land closer to the I-94 towns.
